Eid Rush for Home: People still leaving city

Staff Correspondent: Dhaka city dwellers are still leaving the city on Sunday for their respective village homes to celebrate Eid-ul-fitr with their near and dear ones.

Like the past few days, several hundred city dwellers thronged the bus terminals, Kamalapur Railway Station and launch terminals.

Though there was a huge flow of outgoing vehicles at Chandra crossing from Gabtoli yesterday night, it eased by noon, said Jatriseba Paribahan staff Alamgir.

A garment worker named Amjad Hossain said, "I work in a garment factory and get Eid vacation today. There is no mass gathering in the terminal."

On the other hand, most trains from Kamalapur Railway Station left Dhaka timely, officials said.

Like every year, majority of the holidaymakers travelled by road. Their trips are a little more comfortable this year than the previous years due to the long vacation. Besides, most highways are in better condition.
