Eight DB men suspended

Staff Correspondent: Eight officials of Detective Branch (DB) of Police have temporarily been suspended for collecting extortion at New Wave Club of the capital's Kafrul area after identifying them as officials of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), confirmed the news.

He, however, did not disclose the identities of the suspended DB officials.

On Tuesday night, allegations found over taking extortion against the DB officials. Kafrul Police held 11 officials including a DB assistant commissioner on the night.

A three-meber probe body was also formed to investigate into the matter on Thursday.

Masudur Rahman next steps would be taken after the investigation report submitted by the committee.
