Election campaign ends

Staff Correspondent: The campaigning for the 11th national elections ended on Friday morning.

No candidates and political parties are allowed to run election campaign from 8:00am.

According to Provision 78 of the Representation of the People Order 1972, there will be no meeting, rally and procession before 48 hours of Election Day and till 48 hours after the election.

A top official of Election Commission said that steps have been taken to stop election campaign and candidates and voters can become alert in this issue.

Out of the 300 parliamentary seats, the election would be held in 299 constituencies. In Gaibandha-3, the election has been postponed due to the demise of a candidate.

Over 6 lakh members of different law enforcing agencies will be deployed across the country to ensure peaceful voting. Army, NAVY, BGB personnel and other forcers have been deployed already.
