Election schedule likely in  first week of November

Staff Correspondent:  Election Commission Secretary Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed has said that the schedule for the upcoming parliamentary polls likely to be announced in the first week of November.

He said this on Thursday noon after a meeting held between a seven-member delegation of European Union (EU) and Election Commission (EC).

The meeting began around 11.15am at the office of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda at Agargaon Election Building.

The delegation includes representatives of Britain, Germany, Spain, Sweden, France, Denmark and Netherlands under the leadership of European Union Ambassador.

Election Commissioners Mahbub Talukder, Md. Rafiqul Islam, Kabita Khanam and Brigadier General (retd) Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury were also present.

The meeting discussed various issues related to the eleventh parliamentary elections, EC sources said.
