Election was participatory, not competitive: TIB

Staff Correspondent:   Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has mentioned that the 11th parliamentary election was participatory but it was not competitive.

TIB disclosed their findings at a press conference in the city on Tuesday.

Speakers at the press conference said, “The Election Commission could not play a proper role in many areas. About the government’s role in suppressing opposition leaders and workers, the commission was silence. As a result, all the parties did not get equal opportunities.

The BNP leaders and workers were prevented from participating in the election process by filing suits which favored the ruling party.

TIB Chairperson Sultana Kamal and TIB Executive Director Iftekharuzzaman were present at the press conference.
