Economic Correspondent: "Electronics industry in the country will confirm its position just after the garments industry if the government continues its patronage and support towards the industry," Walton Group Director S. M. Mahbubul Alam said.

The Walton Group Director came up with the comment at a function held at the National Board of Revenue (NBR) in the capital on Monday.

The function was organized to give certificates and awards to the highest VAT payers at the just concluded Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF-2018).

In an instant reaction after receiving the award, S. M. Mahbubul Alam said, "This achievement goes to our buyers as they have paid their VAT properly buying these local products. We have only deposited the VAT to the government exchequer. Special thanks to the NBR and the government as they have extended their support to develop this local industry."

The Electronics industry has an immense potential in the country after the garments. This industry will one day confirm its position just after the garments industry if the government continues its patronage and support towards the industry, he added.

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, who attended the function as the chief guest, handed over the honorary certificates and awards to 10 highest VAT paying companies.
