Emergency services at DMCH resume after 3 hours

Staff Correspondent: The emergency medical services which were suspended following an attack carried out by aggrieved relatives of a patient, who died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Sunday, resumed after three hours.

The emergency medical services resume at 5:00pm on Sunday.

Brig Gen AKM Nasir Uddin, Director of DMCH, told journalists that three days ago, the patient who died at the hospital was given proper treatment and the physicians also tried their best but he died.

Later, aggrieved relatives of the patient attacked on-duty doctors and nurses at the CCU and vandalised medical equipment alleging that the physicians were negligent of ensuring proper treatment for him, AKM Nasir Uddin said.

Earlier in the day, the DMCH authorities suspended emergency medical services as aggrieved relatives of a patient, who died while undergoing treatment at the hospital on Sunday, attacked physicians and nurses.

DMCH authorities said a certain Nawshad Ahmed (50) came from Old Dhaka with heart complaints and was admitted to the hospital on Saturday night.

He died at the coronary care unit at noon on Sunday.
