Envoys of 10 countries pay tribute at Cumilla War Cemetery

Cumilla Correspondent: Envoys of ten countries gathered at Commonwealth War Cemetery in Cumilla to commemorate those who died in the Second World War, especially the 738 service personnel of different nations who were buried at the cemetery.

The ambassadors led by UK Deputy High Commissioner Kanbar Hossein-Bor joined programme at Mainamati Cemetery in Cumilla this morning.

German ambassador Peter Fahrenholtz, France ambassador Marie-Annick BOURDIN, Japan envoy Hiroyasu Izumi, Australia ambassador to Dhaka Julia Niblett, Canada ambassador Benoit Préfontaine, Sri Lanka ambassador Crisanthe De Silva, US ambassador to Dhaka Joel Rifman, India embassy representative Brigadier General J S Chima and others joined the function.

Meanwhile, the diplomats and representatives of foreign missions placed wreaths on the graves. 

Cumilla cantonment GOC Major General Ahmed Tabrej Shams Chowdhury, commanding officer of 33 infantry placed wreath on behalf of Bangladesh.
