Exam routine may change as polls schedule defers

Secretariat Correspondent: A change may come in the admission process of public schools across the country for the new academic year as well as in the routine of admission tests due to the rescheduling of the 11th parliamentary election.

A source at the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) confirmed the matter on Monday.

There was an instruction to complete the final exams of all educational institutions in the country by December 10 due to the 11th parliamentary election scheduled to be held on December. Due to the rescheduling of the parliamentary election today, there may be a change in the admission process of public schools across the country for the new academic year as well as in the routine of admission tests, said the source.

Following the demand of several political parties, the Election Commission deferred the 11th parliamentary elections by a week to December 30.

The Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda made the announcement after inaugurating an exhibition of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) in Dhaka’s Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on Monday noon.

Meanwhile, he also said, the commission has extended the nomination filing deadline to November 28.

Earlier on November 8, the CEC announced that the 11th parliamentary elections will be held on December 23 and the last date for submission of nomination papers is November 19.
