Fair election possible under PM’s 23-point: Dr Kamal

Staff Correspondent: Eminent jurist and Gono Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain said that fair election is possible in line with the 23-point proposal placed by Sheikh Hasina during her opposition role.

He said, “Necessity of the 23-point placed by the then opposition leader Sheikh Hasina has not yet finished. Fair election is possible in the country in line with the 23-point.”

He also expressed hope that when Sheikh Hasina is in power, she not will not take U-turn from her 23-point she had placed during her opposition role.

Dr Kamal said this at a view exchange meeting with Supreme Court lawyers. Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) arranged the programme at SCBA auditorium on Thursday.

Terming of setting up court inside jail as absurd, he said, “If anybody is aggrieved for setting up a court in the jail, they can move to the high court questioning the legality of setting up such a court.”

Dr Kamal said, “Col Taher was tried by a court inside Dhaka Central Jail, which the people of the country did not consider well.”

He said, “Those who have insulted former Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha will be hated forever.”

"We will try them," Dr Kamal added.

In reply to a query, he said, “Jamaat will not be accepted in the national unity.”
