Finance Minister among 3 receive Dr Ibharim gold medal

Staff Correspondent: Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith among three have been awarded the Dr Mohammad Ibrahim Memorial Gold Medal 2018.

The winners received the medal at the auditorium of Birdem Hospital at Shahbag in the capital on Sunday noon.

Dr Ibrahim Smriti Parishad conferred the award every two years.

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith got the award for his outstanding contributions in the Liberation, Economics and social service.

National Professor and founder of National Heart Foundation Brig Gen Abdul Malik (retd) won the medal for his special role in heart disease treatment in Bangladesh while Dr Hajera Mahtab, professor emeritus of Bangladesh Institute of Health Sciences, got it for her role in preventing diabetes.

As the chief guest, Finance Minister Muhith said in the award giving ceremony, "Though many say 36 percent people of the country affected with diabetes, but I think it will be 50 percent. However, no fear for the patients if they follow discipline, rules and regulations."

"Dr Mohammad Ibrahim is always remembered by dedicating himself to the service of humanity. The nation will remember him forever," he added.
