Fire safety measures absent at Nagar Bhaban

Staff Correspondent: The building of the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) located in capital’s Gulshan has no enough fire safety measures and proper electrical facilities.
A DNCC team expressed concern about this after inspecting the building on Saturday. However, the city corporation officials said that they are taking fire safety measures as soon as possible in the building.
In a bid to create awareness about fire safety, DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam inaugurated the activities of ‘building inspection team’ at Gulshan Nagar Bhaban at 10:30 am on Saturday.
After the inauguration, the building inspection team visited the building and super shop 'Unimart' in the basement of the building. The inspection team expressed concern that there is not enough fire safety measures in both places.
DNCC Public Relations Officer ASM Mamun said, "Fire-safety measures are being taken in the building."
The mayor said, the building inspection team will examine fire safety measures in various multi-storey buildings in the DNCCC area, such as emergency stairs, fire alarm, fire-fighting training, regular drills, fire drilling machines, etc. The mayor further said that initially the team will go to see fire safety measures in multi-storey markets, hospitals and educational institutions.
