First janaza of Sayedul held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban

Staff Correspondent:  The first namaz-e-janaza of Fisheries and Livestock Minister Muhammed Sayedul Hoque was held around 10.10am on Sunday at South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

Muhammed Sayedul Hoque died while undergoing treatment at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Saturday morning. He was 75.

His body was taken to South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban from BSMMU mortuary.

President Md Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Deputy Speaker Md Fazley Rabbi Mia, placed wreaths on the coffin of Sayedul Hoque.

Later, the President, deputy speaker, ministers, lawmakers, senior leaders of Awami League and other political parties, well-wishers, officials and employees of the JS attended his namaz-e-janaza.

He will be buried at his family graveyard at Purbobhagh village of the upazila following another namaz-e-janaza after Zohr prayers, said Public Relations Officer of the Fisheries and Livestock Ministry Shah Alam Badshah.

He leaves behind a wife and son. His son, Raihanul Hoque, is a lecturer at Dhaka Medical College.

Hoque was elected to the Brahmanbaria-1 seat five times as a member of the Awami League. The veteran AL leader was appointed to the cabinet under the Sheikh Hasina administration in 2014.

Sayedul Hoque was born on Mar 4, 1942 in Brahmanbaria’s Nasirnagar.
