Five killed due to lightning in Manikganj

Manikganj Correspondent: At least five people were killed and five others injured in separate incidents of lightning strike in Singair and Saturia upazilas of the district on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as- Taher, 40, son of Nazgar Ali, Abdul Barek, 45, son of Abdul Khalek, Aslam Hossain, 40, son of Rawson Ali, Jayanta Chadra Srkar, 12, son of late Ganesh Chandra Sarkar, Nitai Chandra Sarkar, 16, son of late Gobardhan.

Baira union parishad chairman Dewan Jinnah said a thunderbolt hit 10-12 farmers while harvesting paddy at Charjamalpur village in Singair upazila this noon, leaving Barek and Taher dead on the spot and six others, including Aslam, injured.

Later, the injured were sent to local hospital where three others died under treatment.
