Flood: 57 educational institutions closed in Rajbari

Rajbari Correspondent: About 57 educational institutions in the district have been shut down due to the flood.

According to sources, 43 government primary schools and 14 non-government primary schools have been shut down.

Assistant District Primary Education Officer Amirul Islam said flood water entered the 43 primary schools of four upazilas of the district as the water of the Padma river is flowing 106 cm over the danger mark in Daulatdia point. As a result these schools have been declared closed. Of them, there are 20 primary schools in Goalanda upazila, 10 in Sadar upazila, eight in Kalukhali upazila and five primary schools in Pangsha upazila.

Besides, 14 secondary schools have been announced closed. Of these, there are eight secondary schools in Goalanda, three in Pangsha and three in Kalukhali.

District Education Officer Syed Siddiqur Rahman said due to flood the educational activities in the schools were hampered. So schools have been declared closed. The schools will remain open after the flood.
