Flood victims can buy rice at Tk 10 a kg: PM

Bogra Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said flood-affected people can buy rice at Tk 10 per kilogram and they can buy up to 30 kilograms at this rate. 50 lakh households across the country will get this facility.

The premier said some 22,616 metric tonnes of rice have so far been allocated in 32 districts affected by floods. Some 1,100 metric tonnes of rice and cash TK22 lakh have been allocated in Bogra.

She said this while addressing a rally as the chief guest at Sariakandi Degree College Ground in Bogra on Saturday afternoon.

Sheikh Hasina said her government will reconstruct the houses damaged by the deluge or river erosion. "We would give land to those whose land was devoured by the river and we would reconstruct the educational institutions that were damaged in the current flood," she said.

Pointing out various steps for rehabilitation of the flood-affected farmers, the premier said the agriculture loan among the share croppers will continue, while realizing interest from the farmers who took agri loan will remain suspended.
