‘Flood won’t cause dearth of sacrificial animals’

Staff Correspondent: State Minister for fisheries and livestock Narayan Chandra Chanda said there is no fear of shortage of sacrificial animals due to floods ahead of upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha.

The state minister made the opinion while speaking at a seminar held at the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) auditorium in the capital on Thursday.

Narayan Chandra Chanda said, “Crisis of cattle food in several districts has been found due to this year’s flood. In several places, there have been some reports about the deaths of cows, goats and rams. Until now, the report we have received about the deaths of cattle does not mean that we are in shortage of sacrificial animals.”

We have already issued an order asking the department of livestock to supply food for cattle in the flood-affected areas. We are making constant contacts with local officers in this regard, he added.
