Footpath to be kept hawkers free: Mayor

Staff Correspondent: Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon said no hawkers will be allowed to sit in footpaths during daytime.
The mayor made the opinion while addressing newsmen after a programme at Nagar Bhaban in the capital on Monday.
He said DSCC will not change its decision. Gulisthan, Motijheel and adjacent area will be kept hawkers free.
But, considering humanitarian issue, hawkers will be allowed to sit the footpaths after 6:30pm every day, he added.
Sayeed Khokon also said that if anyone tries to create anarchy showing political identity, then action will be taken against them.
