Formation of 9th wage board at final stage: Inu

Secretariat Correspondent: Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said process to form the 9th wage board is at final stage.

The minister made the disclosure at a meeting with the leaders of two organisations of press employees on Thursday.

Inu said, “We have given recognition on principle to proposal of forming the 9th wage board. It is a tripartite system where journalists, employees and owners deal with the issue although the government takes initiatives in this regard.”

“A justice leads wage board. He/she tries to do his/her best to deal the issue very neutrally. We just appoint a justice as chairman. The remaining members are not appointed by us. Journalists, employees and owners will give representatives. Then we will formally give it a form of law that they are the members of the wage board,” the information minister said.

He said, “These members will take the work of the wage board forward through a systematic discussion. The proposal we have got for forming wage board is at final stage. Hope we can formally start working on the wage board very soon.”

Inu said, “We have sent a proposal for appointing a justice to the authorities concerned from the ministry. They are yet to send a feedback. We will formally start our journey after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina finalised it.”
