Former CU assistant proctor put on 2-day remand

Staff Correspondent, Chittagong: A Chittagong court placed former assistant proctor of Chittagong University (CU) Anwar Hossain on a 2-day remand in a case filed over the murder of BCL leader Diaz Irfan Chowdhury.

Chittagong Senior Judicial Magistrate Shibal Kumar De passed the order on Thursday.

Inspector Swapan Kumar Majumdar of Chittagong district police (prosecution) confirmed this to media.

According to the court sources, Investigation Officer (IO) Chittagong CID police super Jasim Uddin produced the accused before the court seeking five days remand. Later, after the hearing, the court accepted two days remand.

On November 20, 2016, police recovered the dead body of former joint secretary of CU Chhatra League unit and also assistant secretary of central Chhatra League Diaz Irfan Chowdhury from a rented residence at Gate 2 area of Chittagong University.
