Former JMB chief among 3 jailed for 7.5 years

Staff Correspondent: Former chief of banned outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) Moulana Saidur Rahman and two others have been handed seven and half years’ jail time for subversive activities. 

Dhaka Special Judge Court-6 Jude KM Imrul Kayes passed the order on Thursday.

The two others convicts' are- Abdullah Hel Kafi and his wife Ayesha Akhter.

The court also fined the trio Tk 1 lakh each and an additional year of jail term for default.

Earlier, DB Inspector Sohrab Hossain submitted charge-sheet against the accused on August 7, 2010. 

On May 25, 2010, police arrested Saidur and two others from a residence in the city’s East Dania area. During the raids, the police recovered a huge cache of bomb-making materials, firearms and ammunition and 24 types of jihadi books.
