Former chairman of Farmers Bank among 4 arrested

Staff Correspondent: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested former chairman of the Farmers Bank's Audit committee Mahabubul Haque Chisty (Babul Chisty) and his son among four in a case filed over embezzlement of Tk 160 crore.

A team of ACC led by its deputy director Shamsul Alam arrested them from Segunbagicha area on Tuesday noon.

ACC's Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the news to risingbd.

Earlier the ACC filed a case with the capital’s Gulshan Police Station against six people in this connection.

The other arrestees were known as Rashedul Haque  Chisty, son of Mahabubul Haque Chisty,  Masudur Rahman Khan, first president of Farmers Bank , and Zia Uddin Ahmed, senior vice president of the bank.

Other accused of the case are Ruzi Chisty, wife of Mahabubul Haque Chisty, and Delowar Hossain, incumbent senior executive vice president of the bank (former manager of Gulshan Corporate Branch).
