Four get death in Laxmipur gang-rape case

Laxmipur Correspondent: A court in Laxmipur sentenced four people to death in a case filed for gang-raping a woman at Char kadira area under Kamalnagar upazila of the district.

The court also fined them TK20,000 each.

Laxmipur District and Sessions Judge Dr Abul Kashem Chowdhury handed down the verdict on Wednesday noon.

The death row convicts are--Sanaullah, 35, son of Mona Bapari; Md Rahim, 25, son of Abdul Gani; Md Harun, 30, son of Rafikul Islam Bapari and Abul Kashem Prokash, 30, son of Rafikul Islam.

The court acquitted another accused Anwar Ullah, son of late Tajul Haque of charges as the charges brought against him could not be proven as true.

The woman was gang-raped at Char kadira area under Kamalnagar upazila of the district on December 22, 2014. Her husband filed a case with Kamalnagar police station in this connection. After hearing in the case, the court handed down the verdict.
