Ganjeraaj Paribahan driver held

Kushtia Correspondent:  Driver of Ganjeraaj Paribahan, Mohid Mia alias Khokon, 35, has been arrested in a case over the death of one-year-old Akifa in a road crash.

A team of RAB-12 arrested him from Bangershor area of Faridpur Sadar upazila on Wednesday night.

Additional Police Supper of Kushtia RAB-12 MM Mohamenur Rashid disclosed this at a press conference on Thursday noon.

Akifa, a one-year-old daughter of one Harunur Rashid, sustained injuries after she fell from her mother Rina Akter’s lap when a bus of ‘Ganjeraaj Paribahan’ hit her in Kushtia district town on 28 August.

Later, the child died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on 30 August.

The victim’s father filed a case against bus driver Khokon, its owner Joynul and supervisor Yunus with Kushita model police station on the same day.

The video footage of the incident went viral on social networking site, Facebook, sparking uproar across the country.
