‘Gazette on quota after PM’s final directives’

Secretariat Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced to abolish quota system amid strong protest for couple of days across the country.

But there is still confusion whether the decision will be effective only for Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) or for all kinds of government job recruitments (from first class to fourth class).

Prime Minister just came up with the example of BCS only in her speech made in the parliament session on Wednesday. So, the matter will be clear just after final directives issued by the PM in this regard.

And that’s why the gazette on quota cancellation will be issued after clear directives from PM, according to the Public Administration Ministry.

Mojammel Haque Khan, senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, told this to the reporters at his office of the ministry on Thursday noon.

He said, “The ministry is now waiting for further directives for the new regulations on the quota system. Anything can be said on this subject only after getting clear directives. Details will be specified in the gazette.

When the gazette might be issued? In reply to the query he said, “There is nothing to be hurried about it. No recruitment is currently underway and it will not cause any harm to the state.  The gazette on quota for civil service will be published in due time.”
