Girl burnt dead over mobile theft allegation

Staff Correspondent: A 15-year-old girl named Aziza Khatun has been burned to death in an allegation of stealing a mobile phone set.

There is an allegation that her Aunty Beauty Begum set fire to her by pouring kerosene around 9.00pm on Friday.

The incident took place at Khonkut village under Shibpur upazila.

Aziza Khatun was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries early Saturday.

Beauty Begum and her associates set fire to Aziza Khatun after her uncle accused her of stealing his mobile phone set, Aziza’s father Abdus Sattar alleged.

She was taken to Narsingdi District Hospital with severe burn injuries and then shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
