Staff Correspondent: Customs officials seized 4.6 kilograms of gold hidden underneath a flight of US Bangla Airlines at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday.
Director General of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) Moinul Khan confirmed this to risingbd.com.
He said a customs team conducted a raid on the aircraft, which landed at the airport from Kolkata, on Sunday afternoon and recovered a black packet wrapped in scotch tape in an abandoned condition beneath a seat.
Later, 40 gold bars worth Tk 2.50 crore were found opening the packet.
