Gold found in artificial hair, man held

Economic Correspondent: Customs officials held a man with 13 gold bars weighing 1.5 kg from hidden in his artificial hair at Hazrat Shahjalal International airport on Tuesday night.

The estimated price of the seized gold is about Tk 65 lakh.

A H M Ahsanul kabir, Assistant Commissioner of the airport customs house, confirmed the news on Wednesday morning.

He said a man named Aminul Haque came in from Malaysia around 10:30pm on Tuesday. Acting on tipped off, custom officials challenged him while he was crossing the green channel. But he denied bearing any gold with him. Later, the gold found after he had been scrutinized in archway thermal scanners.

Aminul, hailed from Shreenagar of Munshiganj, identified himself as a migrant trader. He was handed over to police station, he added.
