Gold worth Tk73 lakh seized at Shahjalal airport

Staff Correspondent: Customs officials in separate drives recovered 14 gold bars worth about Tk73 lakh from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital.

Sources said that the authority recovered 10 gold bars weighing one kilogram from rectum of a passenger on Friday night. Later, four more gold bars were seized from two passengers this morning.

Customs intelligences said acting on tip-off, a team of detectives took position in green channel area and held the passenger who landed at Dhaka airport from Thailand by a flight of BG-089. Later, seized the gold bars from his rectum.

Customs intelligence director general Dr Md Shahidul Islam confirmed the matter to risingbd.com.
