Gono Forum rejects budget

Staff Correspondent:  Gono Forum has rejected the proposed national budget for the fiscal 2019-20, describing it as an anti-people one.

Gono Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain came up with the reaction at a press conference held at the National Press Club on Saturday.

“This is not a budget for people. We reject this budget. We will announce protest programmes soon” said Dr Kamal Hossain.

He said it has been formulated to protect the interest of a handful of businesspeople and politicians ignoring people.

Gono Forum General Secretary Reza Kibria said this budget fails to address the critical problems of the widening inequality, poverty and unemployment.

“It’s a budget favouring the interest of a handful of business and political interests at the cost of the rest of the nation,” he said.
