‘Gonoshasthaya Kendra attacked as I join Oikyafront’

Staff Correspondent: “Gonoshasthaya Kendra came under attack as I have joined the newly floated political alliance Jatiya Oikyafront,” Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury alleged.

Dr Zafrullah, the founder of Gonoshasthaya Kendra, came up with the allegation while addressing a press conference at Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi on Saturday.

Terming the attack as pre-planned, Dr Zafrullah said, “I am involved with the Oikyafront as an independent citizen. Political opponents attacked and vandalized my organization as they cannot give me punishment.”

He said that he is just one of the seven members of the trustee board of Gonoshasthya Kendra.

“Political opponents made the recent attack at Gonoshasthaya Kendra as its founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury has joined Jatiya Oikyafront,” Prof Altafunnesa, chairman of Gonoshasthaya Kendra Board of Trustees, said while addressing the press conference.

“People have to pay for bringing about any change. Gonoshasthya Kendra and its employees are paying such price,” Zafrullah said, referring to the attack and a spree of cases being filed against him.
