'Govt cent percent sincere about Khaleda’s treatment'

Senior Correspondent: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Sunday said the government is giving highest importance on the medical treatment of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia who is now in jail after being convicted in a graft case.

“The government is cent percent sincere about Khaleda’s treatment. She will be taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) for a medical checkup,” he said, replying to a question from reporters at his secretariat office.

Asked about the time of taking Khaleda to the BSMMU, the minister said IG Prisons will fix the time.

“She will get treatment at BSMMU as there are prominent doctors and researchers in this hospital. Besides, her private physicians will also be available,” Kamal added.

Any decision may be taken as per the doctors’ suggestions, if needed, the minister said.
