'Govt plans to set up fence to stop Rohingya influx'

Staff Correspondent, From the Parliament: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that the government has taken a plan to set up barbwire fence across the Myanmar border gradually to prevent Rohingya influx to Bangladesh.
The minister told this to Jatiya Sangsad in replying to question of Md Mamunur Rashid Kiran of Noakhali-3 constitution on Sunday.
Home Boss said the government has primarily taken plans to set up barbwire fence on 271 kilometers border area across Myanmar, to prevent Rohingya intrusion, drugs and other smuggling and to curb crimes.
The fencing will be started from Shah Porirdweep which will be made gradually across the border, he added.
