Govt to buy 7 lakh blankets

Staff Correspondent: The government has taken an initiative to purchase 7,40,640 blankets at a cost of Tk 54 crore and 99 thousand to face this winter.

Relief and Disaster Management Ministry will distribute the blankets among the poor. 

A proposal will be sent to the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement to be held today (Thursday).

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith will preside over the meeting.

The blankets will be purchased in five lots, sources said.

According to the proposal, the minimum price for each blanket has been fixed at Tk 741 to Tk 744.

These blankets will be bought in 5 lots from the minimum five bidders. The companies are - Talukder & Company, Stander Business Line, Pravati & Company, Kajla Trading and Talukder & Company.
