Secretariat Correspondent: The government is going to buy 70 metre-gauge locomotive engine to remove crisis in railway.
The authority has signed a deal with Hyundai Rotem Company of Korea at Railway Bhaban on Wednesday morning.
KW Ang Kyun Yoon, director of Hyundai Rotem Company, and Railway Project director Abdul Matin Chowdhury signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.
Secretary of Ministry of Railway Md Mofazzal Hossain, director general Kazi Rafikul Alam and other officials attended the function.
Minister Mujibul Haque said Bangladesh railway is facing a crisis due to shortage of rail engine. About 71 percent engines of the railway have crossed lifespan. So, the deal is really important for the railway department.
