Govt to give money, rice to Gulshan fire victims

Staff Correspondent: State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman announced assistance for those affected by the Gulshan DNCC market fire.

“Each businessman will get Taka 10,000 and each worker 20 kg rice,” the minister told reporters after visiting the razed DNCC market in city’s Gulshan on Saturday afternoon.

However, there will be recommendations from the ministry for rehabilitation of those who were affected by the fire, the minister also assured.

Md Enamur Rahman assured the affected businessmen of support as much as possible on humanitarian grounds as per the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He spoke to businessmen at the site where businessmen made unequivocal demands for reconstruction of the market.

In response to such demands, Md Enamur Rahman said he had spoken to the mayor. Brick-built building will be constructed for them.
