Govt to import 1 lakh tonnes rice from Myanmar

Senior Correspondent: Food Minister Qamrul Islam said that the government will import 1 lakh metric tonnes of white rice from Myanmar.
The Minister made the disclosure while addressing newsmen at his secretariat office on Monday noon.
He said, "The purchase will be made at USD 442 per tonne. Already initiatives have been taken to import the rice."
The decision came following a meeting between a delegation of Myanmar and the food ministry last night.
Qamrul Islam also said that a nine member delegation of Myanmar came on Sunday. The decision came following a meeting between the delegation and the food ministry.
