HC decision on compensation for Rajib’s death today

Staff Correspondent: The High Court will deliver its verdict today (Wednesday) on a rule directing the concerned authorities to pay Tk 1 crore as compensation to Rajib Hossain’s family, who died after losing his hand in a bus accident in Dhaka last year.

The bench of Justice JBM Hassan and Justice MD Khairul Alam set the date after concluding a hearing on the rule on May 8.

On April 3, 2018, the third-year student of Government Titumir College lost his right hand after it became stuck between two speeding buses of BRTC and Sajan Paribahan, which were trying to overtake each other in Bangla Motor area in Dhaka.

Rajib died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on April 17, after two weeks in a coma.

On May 8, the Court ordered the bus companies to pay Tk one crore to Rajib's family as compensation. BRTC and Sajan Paribahan challenged the order.
