HC issues rule over DUCSU election

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) issued a rule asking the government to explain why the authorities concerned should not be given directives to hold Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election.

A bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman issued the rule asking why the university's failure to hold elections to the DUCSU for the last 26 years will not be declared illegal.

The Education Secretary, Dhaka University Vice-chancellor, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Registrar and Proctor have been made respondents to the rule within four weeks.

Senior lawyer Subrata Chowdhury confirmed the matter.
