HC orders removal of 52 'substandard' food items

Staff Correspondent: The High Court ordered authorities concerned to remove the 52 substandard food products of various companies who “failed” to ensure Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) parameters.

The court also ordered the authority to submit report within next 10 days after implementing the direction.

The bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil passed the order on Sunday.

Barrister Shihab Uddin Khan moved for the writ petitioner while deputy attorney general Mokhlesur Rahman stood for the state during the hearing.

The 52 substandard food products include- City Oil (Mustard), Green Blessings Sarishar Tel, Shabnam Vegetables, Mustard Oil of Bangladesh Edible Oil, Chips of Kashem Food Products, Arra Food Drinking Water, Al Safi Drinking Water, Al Safi Drinking Water, Mizan Drinking Water, Morn Dew Drinking Water, Duncan Natural Mineral Water, RR View Drinking Water, Dighee Drinking Water, Pran Lachchha Seemai, Dudli Noodles and others.
