HC rejects writ over Qawmi Madrasa's masters certificate

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) has rejected a writ petition filed over challenging the legality of the gazette issued for giving recognition of certificates of Dawrae Hadith under Qawmi Madrasa Education Boards as equivalent to Masters Degree in Islamic Studies and Arabic.

A High Court bench comprising Justice Syed Mohammad Dastagir Hossain and Justice Md Ataur Rahman Khan passed the order after hearing the writ petition on Monday.

Deputy Attorney General Amit Talukdar represented the state during the hearing in the court.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on April 11 declared recognition of certificates of Dawrae Hadith under Qawmi Madrasa Education Boards as equivalent to Masters Degree in Islamic Studies and Arabic.

On April 13, a gazette was issued giving recognition of certificates of Dawrae Hadith under Qawmi Madrasa Education Boards as equivalent to Masters Degree in Islamic Studies and Arabic.

Md Fazlul Haque filed the writ petition with the HC challenging the legality of the gazette.
