Staff Correspondent: The High Court has issued a ruling asking to explain in four weeks why the government should not be directed to compensate families of the victims of Moghbazar-Malibagh flyover girder collapse in March.
The court asked to compensate family of Swapan Mia, who died, Tk 50 lakh and Tk 60 lakh to two injured victims each.
The HC bench of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice AKM Zahirul Haque issued the rule on Wednesday, following a writ petition filed by Children's Charity Bangladesh Foundation, a rights organisation.
The court also asked the officer-in-charge of Ramna Police Station why he should not be directed to report in two weeks on the action taken after the death of the worker in the collapse.
On March 13, Swapan Mia was killed and two other workers were injured as a girder fell from under-construction Moghbazar-Malibagh flyover near Malibagh Level Crossing in the capital.
