HC stays five-mark deduction for MBBS students

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) has stayed a government decision of making merit list after deducting five marks from second time admission seekers in government-run medical colleges and institutions.

Alongside, the court also issued a rule asking the authority concerned as to why the decision of deducting five marks should not be declared illegal.

The bench of justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Jahangir Hossain came up with the order and rule on Tuesday, after hearing a writ petition filed by the Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Eunus Ali Akond.

In the rule, Health Secretary, Director General of Health Department, Director (Medical Education and Health Manpower Development) and the chairman of Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) were asked to explain.
