Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) on Monday stayed for a month the proceedings of a notice served to the authority of The Raintree Hotel by the customs intelligence.
The court also issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain why the notice should not be declared illegal.
The HC came up with the order and rule following a writ petition filed by Managing Director (MD) of The Raintree Hotel Shah Md Adnan Harun challenging the legality of the notice.
Lawyer Advocate Ahsanul Karim stood for The Raintree Hotel while Deputy Attorney General SM Moniruzzaman represented the state in the court.
The hotel owner will not have to appear before the office of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) within a month following the HC stay order, petitioner’s lawyer advocate Ahsanul Karim told risingbd.com.
Earlier on May 15, the customs intelligence issued the notice asking The Raintree Dhaka Owner Shah Md Adnan Harun to appear before its office tomorrow (May 23).
