HC stays trial proceedings of Barrister Mainul’s 2 cases

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) on Wednesday stayed the trial proceedings of two separate defamation cases filed against Barrister Mainul Hosein in Rangpur and Jamalpur.
The court also granted an interim bail for six months to him in the two cases.
An HC bench of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Zafor Ahmed passed the order after hearing two separate petitions filed by Mainul Hosein challenging the case proceedings.
Advocate Khandaker Mahbub Hossain moved for Barrister Mainul at the courtroom.
The cases were filed after Mainul Hosein made a “defamatory” comment about Journalist Masuda Vatti at a television talk show programme on October 16 this year.
Several other cases were filed against Mainul Hosein following his comment.
