HC summons WASA MD, DSCC staff

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) summoned the managing director of Dhaka WASA and chief executive officer of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) to appear before it over the death of a man.

An HC bench comprising justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and justice Mohammad Ullah passed the sue moto order on Tuesday.

The court fixed March 19 to explain their role in the death of a man falling into an open manhole.

The HC also issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain why action should not be taken against those responsible for the death and why compensation should not be paid to the family members of the deceased.

LGRD secretary, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Dhaka WASA management director, Dhaka South City Corporation Chief Executive Officer, Drainage Division Executive Engineer, Chief Waste Management Officer and Paltan police station Officer-in-Charge have been made respondents to the rule.
