Haor embankment graft: 3 engineers suspended

Staff Correspondent: Three engineers of Water Development Board have been suspended over the allegation of corruption in building embankments in the haor belt.
The three engineers' are- Abdul Hai, chief engineer (Sylhet), Nurul Islam Sarkar, a superintendent engineer (Sylhet) and Afsar Uddin, an executive engineer (Sunamganj).
The authority suspended the engineers following the direction of Water Resources Minister Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud.
There is an allegation that the WDB did not repair dams in time as a result, flash flood damaged thousands of hectares of land in the Haor areas.
