Heavy rush at Shimulia-Kathalbari Ghat

Munshiganj Correspondent: The Shimulia-Kathalbari ferry ghat in the district is experiencing heavy pressure of traffic.

Traffic went haywire in the areas due to a huge rush of passengers, causing sufferings to the holidaymakers going home to celebrate this Eid with their loved ones.

Although, a total of 18 ferries were running to carry the home-bound transports and people but, the pressure of transport is still rising there.



More than three hundred law enforcers were deployed in the area to avert any untoward situations. Those heading for the southern districts got stuck there for a long time with transport operators blaming it on the massive pressure of traffic.

Shah M Khaled, assistant general manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) said that four Ro Ro ferries, eight K-type and six other ferries are working to face the rush. But, the numbers of transports are increasing.
