Holidaymakers leaving city, pressure on launch increases

Staff Correspondent: Launch terminals in the capital witnessed a huge rush of home-goers on Sunday as thousands of people set out for their village homes to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha.

Since Sunday morning, people gathered at Sadarghat which is the gateway of the southern region connecting the capital.

According to the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) and launch ghat sources, three special services water vessels will run in Dhaka-Barisal route to face today's crowd.

Dhaka river port Inspector Md Mamun told risingbd.com that the passenger pressure has increased from today.

"A total 63 launches, all of them full with passengers, left the launch terminal till 7:00pm. And 31 more launches will leave the terminal," he added.
