Staff Correspondent: Holidaymakers are leaving the capital Dhaka for their village homes to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with their families.

People who collected advance tickets for Eid journey have started to crowd at the capital’s Gabtoli bus terminal since Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, traffic nightmare has been created on highways, causing sufferings to home-bound people.

Passengers are falling in traffic congestions just after crossing Amin Bazar bridge. Traffic nightmare has  also been occurred on Dhaka-Aricha, Nabingar-Kaliakoir and Abdullahpur-Baipail routes due excessive pressure of vehicles.

Sadia Akter, a Rangpur-bound bus passenger, said, “I’m going to my village home with my baby to celebrate Eid. Though it is four days left to Eid, I’ve learnt about traffic congestion on the highway. I’m leaving Dhaka early to avoid sufferings on way as I’ve a small child.”

She said, “The bus was supposed to leave the terminal at 9:00am, but it did not reach here yet. It is uncertain what sufferings are waiting for us.”

Hamid Mia, driver of SR Paribahan, said, “There is not much traffic congestion on the highway. It just takes some times to enter Dhaka.
